Sometimes a stumble

Our brave face outward.
Fierce, focussed on horizons and plans of epic proportions,
ready to stride forward, forging success.

Oh but even you are human,
perhaps you stumble. Can you forgive
the foot, the stone, the day?

Pause in the eternal moment here,
between the trip and the echo,
where you explode and reform.
Are you ego, emotion or empathy?

Sometimes a stumble is the biggest challenge of all.

Sometimes a stumble is a blessing in disguise. When I stumbled and fell going into church, I was inclined to think that maybe God didn’t want me there that day. I broke my leg , sat through the service then went to Emergency. The blessing came from the loving way my dear Gordon looked after me for a few weeks. I’m usually the one who does the looking after, but not this time. He saw and did things for me that no man should ever have to do. I didn’t know he had it in him. Blessings from stumbles along the way. 🙂

I think Betty is right – they can be amazing blessings – in a difficult disguise! When my birthing experience went horribly wrong I was sad and traumatised and felt guilty for a long time. Then I realised that an emergency c-section was an incredible gift – 8 weeks of forced R&R with my baby. I couldn’t try to be supermum and run the house or go anywhere or do anything. Instead all I could do was nurture and bond with my new baby. I shall always be grateful.

i am a professional stumbler. Thing is that despite our best efforts, life is a series of stumbles. I think that’s how it is supposed to be.
