About

Hi, I’m Janine Prince and I live in the north of Brisbane, Australia (near the beach). I write to make sense of the world around me, to explore ideas and to have fun. I write to explain or express takes me down different paths. I love it when I can build a story that transports you to a wonderous place or out of the everyday, or when a poem gives you a tingle or a flash of recognition. I also write because I love reading, and I keep thinking “What if this happened?”.

I first published it in 2006 (back when dinosaurs didn’t have ereaders) and it is satisfying to see it back in the world in 2018, unleashed from its dusty pages.

I have more on the way, sign up to the newsletter for insider news, and advance notice of new releases. Newsletters come out once a month.

The Incandecent Line

On the blog The Incandescent Line I write about the process of writing, as well as the process of living! That covers all types of things including practical matters from a philosophical and sometimes spiritual perspective. The blog post Your incandescent line is an intro to this (as yet hazy) manifesto.

The essay that kicked off a series of exploratory posts is No brighter future which was inspired by the work of The (then) Archdruid John Michael Greer on his blog  The Archdruid Report (he has since pulled this blog).

A series on our relationship to money through debt and consumerism started with Consumption compulsion.

A longer series on personal freedom started with Do you want better? and includes the reader favourite The secret word is revealed.

Another series draws connections between the search for personal freedom and how a connection to the elements can provide a starting point for this process. It begins with Follow the wind and then steps through Fire, Water, and Earth.
